Insurance
Insurers process a wide range of business transactions that differ greatly in nature, from claims settlements and brokerage fees to service provider invoices. Since EN 16931 is designed for clearly structured, uniform business transactions, this diversity poses a particular challenge when rolling out e-invoicing. In the claims area especially, variable service components, external partners, and a lack of standardization meet a rigid data structure. Brokerage and commission statements with extensive collective line items can likewise be represented in standard-compliant form only to a limited extent. At the same time, e-invoices have to be integrated into complex, organically grown policy administration and accounting systems. High regulatory requirements and large processing volumes add further complexity.
At the “Insurance” Industry Center, these challenges are addressed systematically along concrete application scenarios. Users from areas such as claims, benefits, sales, and accounting work together with the industry association and solution providers to structure the relevant challenges. The aim is to develop robust implementation recommendations that take into account both the diversity of business areas and the technical conditions of the sector. Companies that take part contribute directly to shaping these approaches, while the results serve as a well-founded basis for a practical implementation of e-invoicing in the insurance environment.
