Software & Technology
Implementing the e-invoice relies on powerful software solutions and robust system architectures. ERP, accounting, and workflow systems must process standardized data formats, apply validation rules, and integrate into networked infrastructures. Different architecture models—from on-premises to cloud and hybrid scenarios—play a role here, as does the connection to validation, conversion, and routing services. Interoperable interfaces, stable exchange mechanisms, and scalable operating models are key prerequisites for seamless digital invoicing processes.
Implementing such processes requires the coordinated interplay of heterogeneous IT systems. Users must ensure that data flows are managed consistently, that interfaces are technically secured, and that processing steps are monitored in an automated way. Missing integration logic, inadequate validation, or insufficient monitoring increases the risk of process interruptions, faulty postings, and manual rework—particularly in the case of high invoice volumes or distributed system landscapes.
In the “Software & Technology” Competence Center, experts examine technical architectures, assess implementation approaches, and develop sound guidelines for designing digital invoicing processes. The focus is on integrating standards-based solutions, ensuring technical interoperability, and providing structured assessments of technological developments. The findings inform practice-oriented contributions and are further developed in dialogue with software providers and users.
