Cybersecurity
The digitalization of invoicing processes delivers substantial efficiency gains, but at the same time raises the demands on IT security. The e-invoice gives rise to end-to-end digital process chains built on standardized formats, automated processing steps, and interconnected infrastructures. As a result, the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of invoice data come into sharper focus. Peppol networks, EDI connections, and hybrid exchange formats introduce new attack surfaces along interfaces, transmission paths, and system integrations.
These risks affect companies of every size. Manipulated data, compromised access, or inadequately secured integration points can lead to financial losses, process disruptions, and a loss of trust. Owing to high degrees of automation, security incidents often have an immediate impact on entire process chains. While smaller companies operate with limited resources, larger organizations must secure complex system landscapes consistently.
In the “Cybersecurity” Competence Center, eurofactura brings together experts from IT security and e-invoicing to analyze risks, assess threat scenarios, and classify protective mechanisms. The findings feed into the association’s recommendations and positions and are brought into the dialogue with policymakers, public administration, and standardization bodies, in order to embed security considerations early on in technical and regulatory developments and to give companies guidance for secure digital invoicing processes.
Key Priorities
Securing digital invoicing processes and interfaces
